Lone Tree and Denver Wrinkle Treatments and Fold Fillers

As we age, the face loses volume and wrinkles begin to appear where none existed before.  Soft tissue fillers are man-made products that are used to restore volume to the face.  There are many different options on the market and each one has advantages and disadvantages.  Not all soft tissue fillers are created equal, and no product is ideal; nor can a single filler meet every patient’s wishes and expectations for local Denver and Lone Tree wrinkly treatments.  However, these treatments are extremely popular and in 2010, over 1.7 million soft tissue filler treatments were performed in the United States!

Is this procedure painful?

Treatment with a facial volumizing product can be done very comfortably.   First, a topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment areas.  We also mix the product with an anesthetic, such as Lidocaine, to ensure that you are completely comfortable.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® is man-made product composed of Calcium Hydroxylapatite, which is a substance found in our bones.  Since this substance is found in all humans, patients do not react to it when it is injected under the skin.  Radiesse® is most often use to provide volume to the cheek folds, chin folds and to restore volume to the cheekbones.  For more information, go to the Radiesse® website.

Restylane®

Restylane® is made from a substance called Hyaluronic Acid, which is found normally in all human tissues.  Restylane® is injected in a slight more superficial layer of the skin than is Radiesse®.  For this reason, it is gernerally used for more superficial wrinkles, such as those around the lips and eyes.  All of the Hyaluronic Acid products will initially take up water in the skin, and may look a bit overfilled for the first few days.

Potential risks

As with every procedure, complications can occur. Certain complications such as pain, needle marks, bruising, and swelling are expected in soon after the procedure.  Even some asymmetry can be seen first 2 weeks but usually resolves without intervention.  Should overcorrection from one of the Hyaluronic Acid products persist, it can be successfully treated.
