Denver, Lone Tree and Boulder Exfoliating Peels

Peels have been around for many years. The earliest peels date back to Ancient Egypt when Cleopatra used lactic acid in sour milk to exfoliate and rejuvenate her skin.  Chemical peels have evolved and become more sophisticated since then, but the main mode of action remains the same.  Exfoliating peels use a chemical solution (such as lactic acid) to remove the damaged outer layers of your skin and improve its texture.

While results vary based on the type and strength of your peel, an exfoliating peel can:

  • Reduce fine lines, especially under the eyes and around the mouth
  • Correct mild scarring
  • Treat certain types of acne
  • Diminish sun spots, age spots, liver spots, freckles, or blotchiness
  • Refresh and rejuvenate skin texture and color

Understanding the Treatment

A chemical peel takes 10 to 30 minutes. We cleanse the skin to rid excess oil then apply the solution.  The solution produces a controlled process that enables new, regenerated skin to appear. Most people report a warm to hot sensation and mild stinging that lasts five to 10 minutes.  The dead layers of your skin will then slough off for four to five days. Follow the advice of Anita Wolfe regarding how to care for your healing skin during this period.  Peels may be reapplied at two to three week intervals, but treatment plans are individualized based on the type of peel and skin condition it is designed to treat.

We offer the following exfoliating procedures based on your skin type:

All Skin Types

Gloss Retexturing Peel:  Contains powerful ingredients to resurface the skin with less pain, burning and downtime. A great new peel with robust antioxidant protection!

Oily/Blemish Prone

Salicylic Peel:  If you have oily skin and are prone to blackheads, acne breakouts and/or have large pores, Salicylic acid is a highly effective peeling agent and pore cleanser.  Derived from willow bark, Salicylic acid removes aging cells, oil and debris attached to the skin’s surface and stimulates new cell production and collagen formation.

Glycolic/Salicylic Acid peel:  Glycolic acid is a naturally derived acid from sugar cane, pineapple, sugar beets, cantaloupe and raw grapes.  It is used for cosmetic purposes such as blemish removal, skin brightening and skin renewal. Glycolic acid is also an excellent treatment for fading sunspots, acne scars, blemishes, fine lines and wrinkles.  Glycolic acid has the ability to penetrate deep beneath the surface of the skin to stimulate cell regeneration and increase collegen production.  Abrasive exfoliating methods are effectively replaced by glycolic acid peels as it removes dead skin cells with ease.

Lactic Acid:  Lactic acid is much less intense than similar acids, such as glycolic acid. If you’re new to peeling, or if the results you’re trying to get are only very mild in nature, then a lactic acid peel is a great way to go!

Quelage Skin Calming System:  A new peel for sensitive skin that combines salicylic and azelaic acids with Quassia extract.  This peel includes an at home regimen.

Uneven Skin Tone/Sun Damage/Premature Aged Skin

Jessner’s Peel:  Jessner’s solution is a mild peeling agent used to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation and treat sun damaged skin. A great peel for other areas of sun damage on the body, such as the hands, neck or chest.

Melanage Skin Lightening System:  If you have uneven skin tone, deep pigment issues or melasma, this is the peel for you. This is a superficial peel designed to improve the texture and appearance of the skin and includes an at-home regimen.

Retinoic Acid Peel:  A retinoic acid peel is a unique procedure, perfect for both young and aging skin.  It also contributes to sealing moisture in the skin at the deepest level, stimulates collagen production and has an antisepetic effect, inhibiting the growth of various bacteria.  The surface of the skin becomes smoother, even the deepest lines and wrinkles are less visible or totally eliminated. Moreover, this type of chemical peel is recommended to prevent malignant skin conditions.  Retinoic acid peel can be performed on the face, neck, check and hands. For those looking for an easy way to quickly get rid of pigmentation problems, smallpox or acne scars, and wrinkles, and improve overall skin appearance, this peel is an excellent choice.
